Donnie headed outside for some socialization and was taken aback by Karal's appearance, which was... a lot shinier thhan normal. "Evening. Are you dressed up for something tonight?"

Karal had thus far had a very trying evening, but he still smiled graciously at Donatello. Because a priest must rise above such petty annoyances as he'd experienced. "I am dressed to reflect the glory of Vkandis," he said proudly. "And the depth of my faith."

Donatello cocked his head slightly. "Oh... Are you a priest then? Or something similar?"

Obviously he had not been living up to his role, if his cabin mate was unaware of what he was. "I am a Sun-priest of Vkandis Sunlord, Envoy of Karse, and chosen of the Avatar of Vkandis," he intoned, bowing his head slightly and spreading his arms wide.

"Wow," Donnie said, impressed. Karal was acting a little oddly, but that might be how he should act when dressed up, as far as he knew. "Is this a celebratory day for your religion?"

[vkandis_son]

"No, it is not," he said, happy that someone here could recognise how important he was. "I suddenly realised that I was not dressing appropriately to my station. I am an Envoy! And the only priest of Vkandis in this entire world! That requires a degree of formality I was, for some reason, not meeting. I have now rectified it." He plucked with some distaste at the gold embroidery on the placket. "Though I will require the full formal vestments to be sent from home."

Donnie drew back slightly, surprised. "So this is going to be how you always are, from now on?"

[vkandis_son]

"Oh, dear Sunlord, I hope not. If I am, kill me a lot. How else should I be?" he asked, somewhat puzzled.

"You're kind of... distant," Donnie said, trying to be diplomatic. "Aloof. You're usually much more friendly."

[vkandis_son]

"My position is a far from insignificant one, thus it requires I carry myself with a certain dignity," he said. Which it seemed, for reasons unknown, he'd not been doing. "But as a priest, I will always be there to provide you with guidance, should you desire it."

"I thought you had a lot of dignity before," Donnie said thoughtfully. "I mean, you carried yourself very well. And thanks, but I don't even know who-- Vkandis? I don't even think I've heard of that god before."

[vkandis_son]

"Vkandis Sunlord, who watches over Karse." He touched his Vkandis medal and inclined his head, but only slightly. "He is not known in this world, which is a great sadness, so it falls to me to make Him known."

"So you'll be like a missionary?" Donatello blinked.

[vkandis_son]

"I'm not entirely certain that word has the same meaning in this world as it does in mine." Actually, he had no idea what the word meant, but a priest of his stature should not admit ignorance of anything.

"Here it means someone who goes to other countries in hopes of converting other people to their religion," Donnie explained.

[vkandis_son]

He nodded wisely. "No, that is not why I am here, although should someone wish to join the Kin of Vkandis, it would be my pleasure to teach them." And, his smile seemed to imply, their honour to learn. "But irrespective of my purpose, I am still the face of the Sunlord in this world."
