"Glad to see you all survived Parent's Weekend," Cindy said. "Considering how stressful dealing with family and friends can be, I've decided to let you guys have an easy week this week."

You all know what that meant, right? Movie day! Complete with coffee, small bowls of buttery popcorn, and those fun little shakers of popcorn flavourings.

Cindy won't mind if you talk through it.

. . . Gabrielle did not have positive experiences with the Persian army. Possibly that had something to do with having a Persian spy win her sympathy by pretending to be a wounded Spartan, then stabbing her with a poisoned dagger so she nearly died in an out-of-the-way barn that ended up besieged by his fellows, and it was just lucky for them that it had been stockpiled with an inexplicably large and convenient number of weapons, hadn't it?

She tried not to hold that against the movie, though; in fact, she got fairly into the movie, even though it gave her a headache.

"Wait a second . . . weren't we defending that pass?" she muttered under her breath. "And it was three hundred Persians against us . . ."

Very Special Greece, people. Sigh.

Alex actually hadn't seen this movie before, because there was bad blood between his dad and Sparta (largely because they thought it was cute to keep a statue of him chained up). He was pretty glad of it, now. "This is stupid," he said suddenly, and out loud. "Where's their armor?"

"Hellooooo, hotties."

Yes, Kenzi had a shallow appreciation of literature. Deal.

Cindy kind of adored this movie. When she didn't want to shoot it in the face, of course.

"Ms. Perrault?" Alex said as he approached Cindy after class. "I want to apologize for my dad." He didn't know what his dad had or hadn't done, but apologizing for him was never a bad guess.

"No reason to apologize, Alex," Cindy said, giving him an understanding smile. "Other than a lot of quality looming, your dad mostly wanted to check in on your progress and see what you were learning about."

She regarded him for a moment before adding, "He was also worried that you might have some issues with a bit of the syllabus."

Cindy didn't want to pry, but she wanted to give Alex the chance to talk about it--if he wanted to, that was.
