This land has promise, but for our captors. The Malnosso who so freely manipulate others in form for reasons that are unknown and likely arbitrary, and then demand that those same victims fight for them are an undesirable set of hosts at best.

If that is of greater concern to you. The simple truth is that at present, the Malnosso have greater power than what can be overcome. And as they've made even death meaningless somehow, they've also taken away even the hope of dying while fighting for freedom.

You have lived quite a long time. Far pass the standard life span I am used to.
A cycle with no end. Surprise no one has gone mad from being trapped here, without knowing, if they can escape from the cycle. Can this place truly cheat death when one dies of natural cause? People can still age here as far as I'm aware.

Well, they keep things interesting here at least. I can't imagine people not getting bored of being trapped in a village.
