OK, trust Captain John to take jabs at the bacon baps. You are sublime in your subtle touches, mia kara.
I've been musing about a future drabble you might write, in which Captain Jack is with Nine but gets, at a certain moment, a startling flash-forward (displacing in time, mirroring actions/sensations) to someone who is the same but looks different. And how he would be left feeling, then. Have you ever thought of that one?
Okay, I've never tried that format, but I'll give it some thought. In the free minutes during my day when I am not trying to write grievances. Things being mad right now, those are few. But I love the distraction.
Remind me again what a bap is...? Specificity eludes me.
Captain John can see all sides of a situation, and is a master tactician. The only thing he can't see around is his heart. He's got a huge Jack-shaped blind spot. I absolutely agree that Jack is the only person he's ever loved.
Also, re your icon. Jack has never looked more beautiful to me than in that episode, in full-on RAF dress blues (with foulard even!) and WWII hair. GAH. I love his hair darker like that.

Like and Achilles heel... I think Jack is the only person to have touched his heart and warmed his soul, and John has no idea how to handle it, and can't resist it. But Jack doesn't want him, so he's trapped in a sort of limbo - can't stay, can't go.

He's at his best in that episode, I think. Gorgeous in every way, and fully expressing his personality. I love his hair and coat in Torchwood but his personality is dampened down, darkened, and hidden behind a series of defenses he dropped entirely in front of the Doctor and Rose.

Presumably your normal check-in process didn't work properly. It didn't matter - I knew it was you anyway.
A bap is a British sandwich made with a bun. Here's a picture of a bacon bap.
