Oh, yeah - I'm not saying I was disappointed in Paradise Lost in the least, bless 'em! I had a good time and that's all I ask. But as you say, yeah, I'd have paid the ticket price for Vreid's set alone. <3
And I'm looking forward to the gig too, though in a state of some terror as I'm having a violent bout of the "omg, what else can I do to promote this, nobody else has added themselves to it on facebook in weeks, English Heritage haven't got back to me, what have I not thought of, ARGH STRESS" right now. >.> Not sure what more to do except keep repeat-posting on FB and hope I get a lucky share or two!
Don't be in a state of terror! I'm giving out the rest of the flyers I had at the Cryptic Age album launch next Saturday, I'll repost/invite as many people as makes sense, and all shall be well.
Ah Paradise Lost... Everytime I see them live, they have looked sooooo unbelievably bored. I now refuse to go see them because if they don't want to play, I'm not going to pay. Pity really, as I really like Icon, Gothic & Draconian Times.
Really? The only other time I've seen them was on the Northern Doom reunion tour thing that they did with Anathema and MDB, where they put on a performance that would've made a stadium metal band proud! Clearly that was them on their best behaviour, then....
Actually, the Unholy Alliance show in London was the one where I first noticed this. They just can't match up to the enthusiasm of Anathema or the atmosphere of MDB. I think I did a review of that show. PL were the headliners, but once Anathema & MDB finished their sets, half the crowd left the building. I soon found out why!
Ah, realised only from picture you posted that new guitar-man in Insomnium is the star-guitarist of Omnium Gatherum and various other bands too. I tend to forget names quite easily...
I did look him up and noticed he has quite a track record, yes. Had never seen any of his bands before, but I warmed to him very much just watching him play - he looked to be having so much fun, and his solos are stunning. Wonderful stuff!
