This fic had some really fun plot stuff, and I loved its characterization of Captain John as inbred, damaged and utterly insane, but Ianto was MILES OOC - not just emo, but doing inexplicably dumb things like drinking to the point of passing out in front of Captain John - and Jack was majorly unpleasant. Eventually the awful Jack and Ianto outweighed the fantastic Captain John for me.
It's an odd fic in that there is a lot to like and dislike about it in equal measure. Fantastic engrossing plots and brilliant Captain John and Mickey characterisation but her Ianto is a whiny emo broken hearted 12 year old girl and Jack is way OOC. When I reached the last chapter I actually scrolled back up to the author's notes to see if she was co-writing the piece with Karaokegal as the Jack in this is the Jack favoured by her - cold, hard, humourless, bears no resemblance to anything seen on screen and considers Ianto to be less important that something he scraped off his shoe. Any fic which has as its central conceit that Jack doesn't love both Ianto and Gwen to bits (no matter what form you consider that love to take) is massively OOC in my book
