I don't understand why people are so puzzled about Maggie. Imo she just has, like, skills in basic human decency and applies them? She's been friends with Rust for years and they parted on horrible terms, she's trying to be nice and yes, she also doesn't want people to get killed. Not failing at life doesn't make her sinister.

I never said she was sinister. I adore Maggie, I just think she can be quite manipulative and she can have different motives. I don't think there's anything suspicious about her regarding the main mystery, I'm just wondering if she really cares about Marty and what he's up to right now with Rust, or if she needed to come down and see Rust, if that was the main raison.

na

It's because it's a creepy, sinister show and a detective story. People are wondering why she's an important character when she plays no part in solving the crimes. Naturally that leads people to wonder if she had a hand in covering up the crimes at least.

Well I never wondered if she was covering up the crimes and I'm glad she's an important character. I only wondered why she went to see Rust. She hadn't seen Marty for two years, didn't try to talk to him, he shows up and talks about helping Rust. I was thinking: why did Maggie bother to talk to Rust in this bar? Is it really because she worries about Marty or is it because she wanted to see Rust? Honestly, that's all.

ayrt

I hadn't actually read your comment nonnie, becos with only one episode left to wrap everything up, I'm all of a sudden nervous about spoilers for this show. So I didn't click on the spoiler tag.

I wondered the same thing about Maggie. Like, was she using that as an excuse to see Rust? Basically I really like Maggie and Rust together and I'm looking for feelings from her side. But I think if there are any feelings there, they are only on Rust's side. That's why he reacted angrily when she showed up again. She used him back then, and now she only shows up because she's worried Rust is going to get Marty killed.

I know it's been a while since this series aired. But I only finished watching it last night. Any fans out there? I know George Wickham is a douche, but I'm still all melty over matthew goode..

I watched it when it first came out! It was a lot better than the book but it was still kinda meh. Frankly Matthew Goode and Jenna Coleman as Lydia were the highlights of it for me. I think she's best Lydia out of any adaptation tbh. What did you think of the mystery?

Haven't read the book, so I could only judge on the TV adaptation. It was a mediocre mystery and the writer knows it, so he/she keeps trying to mislead us and drop clunky hints at the same time.
I have to agree with you that Lydia/George's relationship was what kept me interested. She's a brat and he's a douche, but I couldn't help but hope they'd find salvation in each other.

I'm still annoyed about inexplicably!dark!Fitzwilliam. Because why? There's nothing in P&P to suggest that he had that in him, and as far as I could tell, there was no explanation for how he got there.

I wanted to like Rhys's Darcy because I love Matthew Rhys, but the writing was off. It was like P&P ended yesterday instead of a decade before. I can't see how a Darcy married to Elizabeth for years and years would still think that Georgiana had to be married against her inclination to a family member instead of someone completely appropriate but without enough oomph.

Was it explained in the book? I wonder. If not, I suppose it's done for a dramatic contrast between the two suitors.
I don't think I've seen Matthew Rhys in anything else, yet he looks familiar o_O I guess he has one of those faces made for BBC period drama.
You hit the nail on the head there. and the way Darcy withdrew from Elizabeth in times of crisis isn't normal for a couple who've been thus far happily married with kid. I never understand why he suddenly mistrusts Elizabeth. Because of her sister being married to the infamous George?

He was in Brothers and Sisters, and more entertainingly, The Abduction Club (highly recommended), as well as the creepy The Scapegoat.

I thought every actor was very good but the story was so boring. But it was worth watching for the acting.

Matthew Goode was a good Wickham. He was so gorgeous that I could absolutely buy why everyone would get all melty over him, but he still managed to show why Wickham is total rotter.

It was worth watching for the the acting and the costume <33 Although is it my imagination that Elizabeth only had one green dress, she just wears it with or without a jacket? I love Lydia's wardrobe though, so many fancy hats
Interestingly, I think I've only watched Matthew as an antagonist? He's BRILLIANT in Stoker, so charming and gorgeous and deeply disturbing. He has those crazy eyes ;P

My rationalization for Elizabeth's costuming is that they were trying to show that she's not extravagant, but it just made her look frumpy and weird.

I liked that shade of green on her, but the dress paired with a plain bonnet just ages her...
