Oh honey, I feel your pain. Every time my cow-workers discuss their straight & narrow home lives, I die a little inside.

I am sorry we both have to deal with this... It drives me crazy when they all discuss the sermon from Sunday (6 of them go to the same Cathedral), their Country music drives me up a wall... but I let them be... This went a little too far.

We just have to keep ourselves in check... it is probably better for a little piece of my soul to die than a big chunk of their body *repeats to herself*

It is true... but if I put in my earplugs and listen to a country song backwards, They still get their truck, house, wife and dog back, AND I get to watch them walk backwards towards me with the lovely Wrangler Butt, all without having to hear about it! ;)

Really, I don't mind the music so much, it is more the volume... and getting yelled at for turning it down when they are away from their desk for lunch. All being fair in Love and War, I will occasionally leave my Computer Radio on the Opera / Classical station.... and lock my keyboard.

So would I! This is -not- the way the world should be... Walking in the door to the department some days is like opening the portal to the twilight zone.

Yay you for saying something to them. If they become scared of you, they may not open up their minds and grow, but they'll at least stop saying such horrible things in your presence.

OMG I love your Icon!

Yeah, and it seems that some of them are a little more open minded than others, I just got an IM asking me about -how- a sex change works. I am a little loathe to explain via IM, but at least there is one person who may not be as stuffy as the rest. And yeah, if it gets the rest of them to shut the heck up, all the better.

Ok, I must confess... half the reason I responded was to show off my new icon. :-)

Back in Pittsburgh I worked with a post-op MTF. She had such horror stories of workplace discrimination at other places. Fortunately, the company we worked at together was 20% LBGT... unfortunately she was a wacko! *grin* Anyway, I enjoyed being fully out at work. I miss it!!! It's so much harder to be out in the workplace when you have a husband and kids. People just assume I'm straight and my daily life doesn't say otherwise. Oh well, if there's ever a reason for them to know or for me to defend the community, I will.

Hey, that's an idea... why don't we frame one of the pictures of me in fall drag and see how long until they notice...
