Summary: Faith’s thoughts immediately after the body switch and the fight with Buffy in “Who Are You?”
Word Count: 199
She nervously licks her lips and immediately notices two things right away. The first is that the lipstick that is coating her lips taste bitter and the second is that her lips feel odd underneath her tongue. The lips that she runs her tongue along aren’t familiar to her, they’re not her lips, they’re thinner and she wonders how long it’ll take before she’s used to them. She takes a step forward and almost trips over her own two feet. Her earlier grace is gone now that the need for survival is gone.
Joyce steadies her with a hand and Faith looks up at the older woman and is stunned by the love and concern that she sees in Joyce’s eyes. She finds it unnerving and she wants to run away from the weight of that gaze. What Faith had always thought that she had craved is suddenly suffocating, especially when she knows that it’s not for her. Faith lies about needing a bath and she hates it when Joyce nods in understanding. Still it allows her an easy escape, a chance to plan her next move so that she doesn’t squander the gift that’s been given to her.
