A few days ago my mother called me while bored between work and band practice to say she'd stopped at a McDonald's. As someone with Opinions, I took that opportunity to rant at her about how they had Young Justice toys but were only putting out the male characters, because they're supposed to be the "boy's Happy Meal" and disregarding how atrocious

So, in way, you have fixed our mother-daughter relationship? /OVERSHARE
have you seen the Power Lad et al photos from some con lately? Relevant to your interests!
(also, I am about to go over to the library to get New Lesbian Criticism: Literary and Cultural Readings and maybe then make a Canadian Suicide Double Feature playlist. SEE THIS IS ABOUT YOUUUUU.)
ps it's purple and pink.

I have not seen any Power Lad photos, and in fact do not know who that is? Anyway I'm sure they are lovely!
FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE CSDF PLAYLIST you should probs tell me about it!
I looked again and it is not purple and pink! Def def def red and blue, which MAKES SENSE so I am right here.

POWERLAD ET AL I was looking at Power Girl's Wikipedua page, and at some point one writer implied that it was just because she (Power Girl) did not yet have an iconic logo for her front that she has that...distinctive neckline. This is not related, okay. (there are also other pictures there.)
It is mostly just sad songs by Gord Downie, honestly. That and your fave and mine, "Every Little Star." Because, whoa, drama! Dying at the end of that is almost like Joe Dick's death, in unexpectedness, or something.
It totally is, really. I think the fact that it does not make sense is a much stronger claim.

"Every Little Star" will never have any relation to that movie, except in the strange recesses of your mind. But yeah, it seems like it would be a totally depressing mix.
LOGIC WILL OUT. (I wanted to add the Thanks Hal icon for this, but lj is not actually loading.)

Girls play with action heroes! Action Heroes can be girls!
(You do need both tags. Obvs.)

(One of life's little necessities: variation in one's Miley-related tags.)

James - No no no Emily, you can't play with that! Spiderman is a boys's toy!
Mehtab - No! There are no boygirl toys!
(James brings in all the superhero toys and has a real problem with sharing. Mehtab is an awesome little boy who sticks up for everyone. I was so proud of him!)
I also was happy a few weeks ago when this conversation happened:
Daytora (a girl) - Nicholas, you can't be in our tea party! Only girls play in a tea party.
Nicholas (an awesome boy from the older fours' class) - But, I like it. Why shouldn't I play it?
Daytora - Oh. Um. Alright you can play with us.
(Not quite as awesome as the first conversation, but still a step in the right direction.)

Semi-relatedly, I am a little :/ about female representation in BBatB. 1) So few females in general, and 2) Black Canary, when she wants to talk about the way the Justice Society treats her, as opposed to how they treat Batman, is told that it's because they don't want her to get hurt. What.

This is basically the least informed and most nonsensical comment one could possibly write on the topic! /o\ But in essence: yes, I concur that there is a problem.
