A few questions for all of you:

Has anyone ever experienced an effect of a kidnapping actually get worse over time rather than better? Or does anyone know of a good way to deal with rather strange recurring nightmares?

[He probably should add asking about how long these effects usually last, ( Read more... )

No. Usually they get better over time. [ pause. ] Have you tried tea or doing or drinking something that'll ease your mind before you sleep?

It's been nearly two weeks and if anything it's getting worse because the recurring nightmares are definitely new.

[Well, not really, but to what he thinks due to the kidnapping effect they sure are. And then he hasn't even mentioned other things, but is attributing that to lack of sleep at this time.]

I usually do drink tea. Is there a particular kind that may work better?

I've never heard of something like that before... [ and she'll be making note of this now. ]

I'm not sure... perhaps a chamomile blend or something for muscle relaxing? You might have to try more than one type to find one that works best.

[He definitely notes that blend, since a stop to the grocery is due later, he can make sure to pick that kind up, likely along with a few others.]

I hadn't either. Is there even a typical length of time for these?

Have they tried talking about it? Maybe writing it down?

[And to think, he hadn't even gone with the whole "friend" bit because it's always obvious when asking about a friend it's actually asking for himself.]

I honestly would rather forget them after they happen. If I wrote it down, it would be burned once I finished.

[Though actually, that's not a bad idea. Write it down and burn it. Definitely making a mental note of that one.]

That's what I do, actually. It comes in handy.

It might. I know all of that isn't true.

Any particular song, or just random notes?

[It's an idea, but considering his favorite could be heard in one of those nightmares, he'd probably need something else.]

Whatever comes to mind, actually. Sometimes it's songs I know, others it's just random things. [Mostly it's random things that eventually turn into the familiar.]

[And just for a heads up, his mallynap effect has him not remembering Kaori until it wears off due to what was discussed in that thread, but he's thinking she seems familiar.]

Do you have a personal favorite? My own favorite can't really be used since it would just remind me of the bad dreams.

[Saleh happens to be in the clothing shop, possibly seeking some warmer clothing for himself. He's trying on a brown hooded robe now, examining himself in front of the mirror. He stares for a moment, then shakes his head, dissatisfied. The robe makes him look too shady, and he doesn't want that.]

[Eventually, he concludes that his current apparel should be enough, so he picks up his staff and turns to leave, stopping as he spots Leonhardt ahead.]

Oh...my apologies.

[Leonhardt tries to smile, but today it's feeling a bit forced. He just really wants to grab a few more things and be out of here without trying to be all sociable. But he's at least found a few nice things that are warmer, and mostly in black, grey and brown]

I'm in no hurry.

[He catches that, but has no reason to question a complete stranger.]

Hmm...I've not seen you around before, but you don't appear to be a new arrival. At least, not from this cycle.

[At least he is trying to force a smile. His normal not under a kidnapping effect self hasn't smiled in years.]

I arrived last cycle with another from my world.

Not personally, but it's possible. Sometimes there's insidious planted effects that will wither last a while or take a while to manifest. And that's not even going into things like your reaction to what did happen. So yeah, it's not super common, but I've heard of it.

Do you know of a more specific example? You don't need to name names, I would just like a better idea of what I may be looking forward to here besides the addition of nightmares.

[...] Delusions. Specifically, thinking one's arm was artificial when it wasn't. Also, lasting blindness.

[Leonhardt is silent for a bit, because well, he doesn't need either of those things being added right now.]

And were those ones that lasted too long or took a while to manifest?
