Already in the classroom, and pretty much prepared for anything, Edward found himself a little surprised. It was her first appearance, yet she was already making that many mistakes? Maybe she was new? But hey, if he had pulled stunts like that back during his State Alchemist examination, he probably would've been cut loose immediately. Not wanting the classroom to fall into some sort of chaos, he figured he might try to make himself useful.

"Miss Brooke, if you don't mind, I'd be happy to take care of the books for your next class. Looks like you've got plenty to worry about as it is."

Smiling at him, she replied, "Thank you. You must be my new aide. I had a paper with your information on it." Miss Brooke looked over the top of her desk, noticing that the sheet was buried in a pile that was already there for the past few days. "...I'll need to look for it first!"

"Don't worry about it." Ed replied, a little nervous at how things were going. "The name's Edward Elric, and I know my way around books. That's really all you need to know."

Rose slouched her her chair, arms folded over her chest and a sullen expression on her face. Not only were they making her go to school, they were making her go to a reading class. Reading! And it was "literature", too. She wasn't exactly sure what the difference between "books" and "literature" was, and she didn't really care to find out.

She didn't have a pen-- but there was a crayon in her pocket that she had borrowed on the train, and then forgotten to put back. Hoping that the teacher would be nice and ignore her if she was helpful, Rose held it out wordlessly. "Do you want a crayon?"

Miss Brooke noticed Rose and her offer of the crayon. It might not be proper to use it in this situation, but it was so sweet that the child was attempting to help her out. Smiling at her, she took it from her hand. "Thank you, this works just fine!"

She smiled back. "You're welcome." Maybe her idea really would work; she hadn't expected a teacher to actually use a crayon.

Tails was quite eager to attend this class, but it seemed to be a little less than expected. Most of his knowledge was based in math and engineering. He would have loved to learn things about literature for a change of pace.

When the class was over, he went after the teacher with the hope of catching her. "Um, Miss Brooke? Do you have a minute?"

She hadn't expected one of her students to stick around after class was over, so she was surprised to see him approach. Still, putting on a smile, she paid attention to him. "For you, I have two." replied Brooke happily.

"Oh, that's great!" Tails responded, showing himself to be eager and grateful.

"You see, Miss Brooke, I was hoping you could recommend some books for me to go over as reading material. I really don't know many good ones off the top of my head." He spoke with a wry smile.
