Lupin's not a warrior, and she didn't take his heart.
I don't know that she had something against vampires, but you can ask Dr. Jones.
He didn't do anything particularly offensive to any gods that I know of. I don't think he would have went out of his way to agitate her in the library.
If she wanted her warden's attention, it would have made more sense to kill someone that she was close to. Not someone that her husband disliked.
But, it's his case. I know not everyone agrees here, but there's always the "I don't want to press charges" reasoning you can't get around. How far it's looked into should be up to him, even if we think or know that the victim deserves better. They are the victim. We serve the victim.

There's a real cavalier attitude toward the death toll, toward dying here. But it's not the issue with the crime, it's just...the guy deserved better then that.
