Wow. The upside I guess they would have to pay you a whole pile of money and it might be good for career advancement. If you're single, lots of very tall exotic looking women. But then could be hell on earth. Heat. Flies.
Funny...I was just talking to someone yesterday about moving to Sudan.
He says that the security situation in Khartoum is fine (of course, this is the analysis someone who's currently in Afghanistan, so...). The weather's hot and gritty nine months of the year, with dust storms. December, January, and February are said to be pleasant. A good number of expats working with oil firms live in Khartoum. I wouldn't expect that there are a lot of bars, although you never know....
I'm willing to guess it would change your life. Like somone said, you'd prolly never see locals, be in some huge fancy compound surrounded by other Americans or Westerners, and be fine. Go outside the compound into real life Sudan and it would be an entirely different story.
