That was excellent fleshing out of the backstory and I'd like to read Shaun's book. I like that Zach bought the book three times and that he had to go to the Gay Lit section to do it. Hee

Heh. Yes, poor, repressed Zach. I imagined he would be really awkward about it :D

Wow, what insight. Loved this story and Zach's reaction to the book--very realistic. Great job with this.

Utterly gorgeous back-story! I love this, very very believable Zach here. And Gabe's reaction to his brother's book, and Larry, and most of all Shaun's book! Wow. =)

I really enjoyed reading this. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you came up with the character of Zach on your own. You really have a feel for his voice and you expressed his emotions in the way that I envision Zach doing it. I hope that made sense.

This line was when I knew I loved it: in a paragraph that Zach reads like he's watching a train wreck in slow motion.

To me, that just perfectly describes the way that Zach feels when he's reading that scene for the first time. He's probably never thought about that kind of thing, at least not as much as this book is causing him to, and that was a great description of his feelings about it.

It totally makes sense - and I am so happy you liked it. I think Trevor Wright does an amazing job of portraying Zach - and I feel like you do, that he probably hadn't really thought about being gay, and hadn't really put any labels on himself, before having it enter his life, via Shaun's book.
