This was a great prequel. Fit perfectly with canon...

This is really fantastic. You seem to really GET Zach. This also works so perfectly with canon: the way Zach acts around Shaun from the beginning, their strained conversation about Shaun's book. Love it!

Thank you for commenting! I must admit that this fic's all about indulging myself in elaborating on that particular scene :) I have so much respect for the director and the actors for packing that single exchange with so many layers of meaning.

This is so cool ... it's great reading other peoples' ideas of the back story. It's such a rich story to pull from, even though (or because?) we're given so little from the film. And your story fits so well with what we know about the characters and where they're coming from. LOVE your take on what Shaun's book is about, and how Zach buys two more copies so the book does well. Heh. Thanks!

Yes - Shelter is great for backstories that way - especially because so little is known about Shaun. I want to (and am kind of in the proces of) build up a whole life story for him.

Thank you so much for commenting, I'm so happy you liked it :)
