OK, I guess this post's a long time coming..... 9_9
But where do I even start?
I want to basically talk about the current atmosphere of our fandom that I feel might be a bit stifling to some of us in terms of critiquing GACKT or anything related to GACKT. I feel like there's a trend in the fandom where people can't criticize anything he says or does

My biggest peev about all of this, honestly, is the ones who are disgusted by it, yet do the exact same thing by objectifying him in a way, or making him come out to be a sex object. How is okay for the fan to treat him as a sex object, writing/saying smutty things about him, but then he makes a comment doing the same thing, & suddenly it's not okay? That's my biggest problem. & I know he mostly objectifies himself too, which gets the fangirls riled up, of course, but when he's grinding & groping, no fangirl is thinking 'wow, he's my inspiration' right now ( ... )

Usually, when there is fandom related issues, we often talk about it, but we didn't get the chance to this time, since we weren't on at the same time & whatnot. I'm glad that I could calmly talk to someone who has both agreeing & disagreeing points without being disrespected in anyway. That's why I love posts like this & talking to you about them.
I understand what you mean. I understand people being taken aback by it, but I'm so surprised that this surprises fans when he has said so much worse. Like people are getting so shocked & pissed now is what made me blink. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he should say these things. What he says doesn't make it okay just because he's 'Gackt'. I hope people don't think I'm blind to this either because I don't see anything wrong with it, you know? xD; Now say if he was like.. meeting fans, whipping it out & forcing their heads down, THEN I would be completely disgusted just like I wouldn't really stick my head into his chest, as tempting as it is haha. I just see this ( ... )

Not to say his sexism (be it true or not is not really a point here) is one of the most deeply running wounds that divides this fandom...:/

An opinion is an opinion is an opinion! And people should learn to respect eachother's!
BTW, I was disappointed by the album samples too!

Yeah, it really comes down to simply respecting others' opinions. :3
Haha, you were disappointed, too, eh?
Well, I may grow to really like them when I get the album. Who knows? ^^

I was thinking about cancelling it but then thought why not ^^

There's a million reasons.
It'd be great to have open and reasonable discussions but too many people do put him on a pedestal and make him into this saintly figure that he's never claimed to be. I think sometimes, people are defending their idea of him, and not who he actually is. He's an asshole (at times) and he'd probably be the first to admit to that. I said it in another entry, but writing pretty lyrics, being inspirational and doing charity work doesn't prevent him from being a moron. People should remember that, then they wouldn't be so surprised when he proves it again ( ... )

Really, from a feminist point of view, even saying "All women should be X" is already sexist even without it being something degrading like "always have their mouths ready". So for me, trying to argue GACKT doesn't have sexist viewpoints is like trying to argue the sky isn't blue. His ideas on gender are a HUGE part of his world view he talks about all the time.

I think I might make a new post on this, and I'll include a link to your comment if that's OK with you (if not, let me know~). :3

And yeah, I don't like to be treated as a 'machine' always ready to please her man -.- What doesn't change the fact I still respect G for his work.

I'm a pretty self-assured person, and I don't really care what others think of me or my opinions. What's important is what I think of myself. And even I hesitated to tweet my disappointment, so I don't blame you. :'3
Yes!
When someone criticizes him on one thing, some people quickly jump to the conclusion that the criticism goes beyond that issue. Just because you criticize him on something, doesn't mean you stopped loving and respecting him, right? ;3

I'm not too confident and dealing with aggressive respones usually sucks all of my energy -.-
Exactly. Is it so hard to understand that disapproving some of his ideas/words/views doesn't mean to disapprove him as a person/an artist? Eh. Saying 'because it's G' is too convenient.
