An original this time

Okay, this is a story that I've started for a shared world group I belong to. In a sense, this is an original story by yours truly. it's just the first two chapters. The first chapter was in answer to a challenge to write something in the first person and so I started my story that way. Since, to be honest, I had no intention of writing this ( Read more... )

Oooh! Akhenaten! I was watching a thing about Nefertiti on the Discovery Channel last week. There's a theory out there that Smenkhare was actually Nefertiti. I don't know, but it's a fun theory. I do think Tutankhamen was murdered, however. Thoughts?

Oooh, another Akhenaten nut! Woo! I could go on forEVER on this particular Pharaoh. I have numerous books on him, have seen tons of documentaries on him and his family, have attended lectures, consulted Egyptologists and Archaeologists AND plan on taking a trip one of these years to visit the Armana site. I'm just an Akhenaten junkie ( ... )

oooh! I love it! Aye, the vizier, eh? Yeah, I think he was guilty of many things. I think he had a hand in Tutankhaten becoming Tutankhamen. Tut was nothing but a puppet, at least at first. I think he was murdered when he started questioning things.

Ah, see my comment to your other post. I talk about a lot of that there. In the story sequence, Aye gets his big time. Very big time. So does Horemheb, although Horemheb managed to get out of his predicament. Aye though, ain't so lucky. :P

I'm going to have all sort of fun with the immortal Akhenaten thorugh the history of Egypt and beyond. Heh...there's so much for him to do. :D

Books, books... terig August 27 2003, 00:57:22 UTC
Oooh, I also meant to tell you that there's a couple of interesting books out called "The Murder of Tutankhamen" by Bob Brier, Ph.D. and "Egypt's False Prophet Akhenaten" by Nicholas Reeves. The first book is about $20 CDN and Bob Brier is easy to read and is really enthusiastic about the subject matter (he is a specialist in palaeopathology and Egyptology). The second book is extremely expensive (over $44 CDN - but I just HAD to have it) and is a bit cumbersome to get through at times, but offers a really interesting viewpoint on just why Akhenaten did what he did and the political and religious atmosphere of his time.

I have a few other books laying around somewhere...as I find them, I'll post the titles.

Hi, I hope you dont mind, I came across your lj and read these two chapters of your story and absolutely adored them. I have been a lover of anything Ancient Egyptian forever. Not to the extent of you obviously, but I love it anyway.

If its ok, Ive added you to my friends list to make sure I get the updates as you post them.

Thanks for a great read.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments of my story. I have written some more and just haven't typed it up yet. For the next three weeks though I'll be busy at work so there'll be no story at all. I am planning to continue though. I'm having fun with the political intrigue that I'm about to get into - and the character development of course. :D

And friend away! I don't mind folks friending me and no one need ask. :D

And thanks again.
