Okay, this is a story that I've started for a shared world group I belong to. In a sense, this is an original story by yours truly. it's just the first two chapters. The first chapter was in answer to a challenge to write something in the first person and so I started my story that way. Since, to be honest, I had no intention of writing this

Yes, I've heard the theory that Smenkhare was Nefertiti, there are only two things that make me stop and think "huh?" though. One the body found in Tomb 55 (which some believe is Akhenaten and others Smenkhare - it is obviously a male body) and the name itself. Nefertiti was a devotee of the Aten, and the name uses the 're' instead of 'aten'.
What most folks don't know was Tutankhamun's original name was Tutankhaten. :D He changed it to 'amun' for political reasons (at the behest of Aye apparently). There are major political conspiracies going on there. Aye was a real bastard. Faked his support of Akhenaten for 17 years and then set out to totally destroy that family. Seems, if it is true that he was Nefertiti's father, he didn't mind sacrificing his own in the process.
I too believe he had a hand in Tutankhamun's death. The fact he became Pharaoh afterwards says it all to me. :P Mind you, he was the last of that line before Horemheb took over and the 19th Dynasty began. I highly doubt Horemheb was innocent in things either.
I'm going with the idea that Smenkhare was not Nefertiti, but am defintely going with the fact that Tutankhamun was murdered by Aye and Horemheb combined. :P Besides, a friend of mine also has characters in this story from the shared world group so we sat down and worked out a few things to keep our stories consistent. :D
