Not my fault, not my problem, not my con... I wish.

A bit of an update here: Three conventions that I had attended in the past month or so would be: Califur, Rocket City Furmeet (RCFM), Anthrocon and Duckon. Three of them of course being of the furry vareity and flavor, the last being of decidedly sci-fi vareity and flavoring. The first two of course being ones that I had been on staff for, the ( Read more... )

Pick one and only one:

"Where's the kaboom? There was suppsoed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!"

or

"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There is always a boom tomorrow."

You must live with the appropriate implications forever. ;)

I solemnly vow not to have a medical issue at MFF this year (if I go). And in the unlikely event that I do, at least I can be reasonably sure you'll be there. :)

On to my third new and unusual medical instance. There are more than one form of epilipsy. Just because someone is epiliptic doesn't mean that they're going to fall to the ground twitching and frothing at the mouth. In this particular case I got to deal with someone after a seizure in absentia. That's where the person just kind of spaces out for a bit while their neurological activity somewhat resembles fireworks on the fourth of july. With that said, the person, so long as they don't suffer repeated seizures will be quite fine if they get a chance to go to a quiet area after their required period of suffering.

A long time ago I met someone who claimed they had a form of epilepsy like this. I didn't know her very well but still believe there was an equally good chance she was just pretending in order to get attention.

There are several forms of epilepsy. At the first aid level, we teach that seizures are BAD NEWS (tm) because if they are caused by head injury, increased inter-cranial pressure or hypoxia . . . they ARE.

Rapid post-seizure improvement (even faster on 02) is a generally reliable indicator that it's going to be OK. But an EMT is still going to run through a checklist of questions just in case.

Yay for Furp EMS goodness.
