Madrid, Budapest, Vienna, and Middle Rhine

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions on my last post! I think we've found a possible itinerary. We're still not 100% sure that we're going to do this but we are looking seriously into it, and we are getting more and more excited about the possibility of really doing it. We are looking at going early to mid-May 2012 and we will be taking our ( Read more... )

Personally, I'd probably go for Vienna as the short one. We were there for... 4.5 days I think? and we did a daytrip to Bratislava on one of them. I definitely saw all that I wanted to of the city ( ... )

I am definitely interested in the name of the place you stayed at! It sounds like it might be what we're looking for! I don't mind not having breakfast included if it is cheap enough and there are groceries nearby.

The place is here, don't be put off by it being a "hostel"!! As it says in the description, they're apartment buildings, and they are super excellent, and cheap! My relatives stayed in a ritzy hotel and came to see our room 'cause we were raving about it and they were like, OMG We went to stay here!! hahaha. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat, totally recommended!

I'd definitely recommend the daytrip to Toledo. I loved it when I did it a couple of years ago. I didn't, like Madrid as much as Barcelona, but it was still pretty great.

Check Skyscanner.net for flight comparison, if you don't already know it.

Personally I don't have too much of a problemeith discount airlines- they're only short flights. I've flown wizzair a couple of times and they've been perfectly fine.

We have used this site very successfully for holidays both home (UK) and abroad.

It might find you a suitable apartment and gives you a direct link to the apartment owners.

I've been to Madrid twice and I'm not the biggest fan of the city, but definitely go to the museums! The Prado, the Thyssen and the Reina Sofia are really amazing (although I liked the Reina Sofia the least out of the three). Apart from that... not sure what to recommend, but again, I'm not the biggest fan of the city. I'd pick that one for the short stay ( ... )

I've only been to Madrid and Budapest for work with little time for sightseeing, but I enjoyed them both. Vienna seems to be one of those love or hate cities; I've spent quite a bit of time there visiting friends, and actually really dislike the city, but I'll bite my tongue on that ( ... )

We're thinking that Boppard will be our last stop of a 16 day trip, so a little slower place isn't necessarily a bad thing. The way I've figured it, we will have 3 days in the town and they will be used to see castles (and wineries, if there are any)and anything else we see that looks fun. We plan to just use the town we choose as a base.
