10 Things I Hate About You, Arthur, Darling

10 Things I Hate About You was on tv the other night, and it was a ridiculous regression to high school.  I remember, I watched that movie every single week (sometimes more than) with my friends.  We had sleepovers every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (and usually Mondays too) and we always watched 10 Things, Anastasia (this was a secret, ( Read more... )

Also, speaking of being easily convinced that something is canon cuz you saw the movie once six months ago...I saw the movie for the first time last week, and was shocked-- SHOCKED, I tell you-- that by my count, Eames only said "darling" ONE TIME.

It was a great line, though.

I am so fandom focused - I was blown away when I read somewhere that Arthur'n'Eames were only in 4 minutes worth of scenes together. That's not what I remember!

And he only called Arthur 'Darling' once? BUT DID HE REFER TO HIM BY HIS NAME AT ANY POINT? Because then it could be spun as '100% of the time he addressed Arthur, he called him Darling.'

An EXCELLENT point! I will be sure to pay extra-close attention to this when I rewatch! I don't remember him saying "Arthur," but I wasn't paying attention to that at all.

P.S. Only 4 minutes of scenes together? Seriously?!! Wow, fandom.

Whatevs, this is fandom!! We don't need to know each other to love each other forever! We just need to be awesome, and have the potential to have the more awesome together!

*is so late to the party*
...but I'm convinced Arthur "began" as Tommy, when to high-school as Cameron James, went into the military (learned about the PASIV), had a break-down and was institutionalized (because of it), got out, started studying architecture because of it and gave up on girls (went back to his civilian name for this, only he was Tom now, not Tommy) and finally adopted the name Arthur in order to follow a life of crime.

Possibly Tommy had a **mental breakdown** and repressed the fact that he was an alien, and therefore was sent to another family to live a normal life -- but nothing was ever enough, and he always felt like there should be...more, so he moved to New York and started going by Tom, because it just felt right. But then he went into architecture, but it wasn't enough and he was always looking for the next big adventure and like he should be exploring the world and be part of a **team** and so he joined the army. And then got out of the army because - because I'm not sure and then life of crime Arthur.

IN SUMMATION. I AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT

I know this was forever ago, but this post was pretty much the funniest thing I've seen all year. I constantly think now "My face got angrier but my plans did not improve" and laugh myself silly. Also, I'm fairly sure 10 Things I Hate About You was like the third dvd I owned after Can't Hardly Wait and Austin Powers, making it a permanent fixture in my head. So many memories. But god, JGL was like, 12.
