I just watched Johnny's SP from US Nationals; there's finally a video available. Let me quote Christina in the LJ-cut link, because it's so appropriate: ( You are beautiful, no matter what they say. )
Do watch it. You know, it sounded like such a horror from the descriptions and press and everything, the whole competition did. But it's not so bad at all. I just love the way he skates, even when he fucks up.
Thank you. :) (Last time, I wrote fic while I was waiting. Hopefully this time I'll be productive, too.)
He's not a stick-figure like Evan (who has long limbs, but no curves), he doesn't have short stout legs like Adam or Daisuke. He's got those long legs and a tiny waist, combined with a lovely butt and fairly "broad" shoulders (well, in comparison to his waist). And it just looks so beautiful. mmmm The only thing better than reading that description is actually watching it. ;) You know, I don't care what people say, physique and body-build and general appearance is so improtant in figure skating too, not just style and musicality.
hmm *thinks* Try not to .. resist Lille so much? *smiles* Maybe it'll be better to you then. (What, I'm out of ideasss. *starts giggling madly*) Anyway, but I wish you a smooth trip back.
It is important, in my opinion. Some people will just never look as good as others on the ice. Like, Joubert could never possibly have spins as beautiful as Johnny, just because his body doesn't have that... look.
Well, you know, it gets harder when you come back home inbetween. But then again, staying there for 4 months straight isn't nice, either. So. I'm trying not to hate on it so much, but it's hard. The only reason why I want to go back is so that I can skate again. And well, the shopping is kinda fun, but I don't have anyone to shop with, so it's not so fun. And I realize that I'm being super negative about Lille and France, but, what can I say. I think France is 'orrible'. :P
He looks sixteen in the face again as he's sitting there fretting in the K&C. Seriously. If it weren't for his hair disasters, I'd think he's aging backwards. I find it so adorable that Galina and him are holding hands from pretty much the moment he gets off the ice.
lol The Russian feed I watched.. the picture is so squished that everyone looks more stretched out than usual, and the looks borderline stickfigure. lol Very pretty still, though. ;D
I think all the footwork he did there was gorgeous. I'm so saaad for this program though. I want to see it CLEAN! *has troubles letting go*
Did you read Viktor Petrenko's comments on the whole thing? :) He's such an asset and steady head, I'm really glad he's part of that team.
He does. If it weren't for his hair disasters, I'd think he's aging backwards. - I've been thinking that since last season. (Maybe he's like Benjamin Button and he actually IS aging backwards.;))
And yesss, the hand-holding, I noticed that, too. He's won Galina over, it's horrible, not even the iron Russian ladies can resist. The way he hugged her (and it was more him hugging and clutching onto her than the other way around) when he got off the ice broke my heart.
I watched the Russian thing, too. It is kind of distorted, heh, but only a little.
I know. I wanted a clean version of that for memories. *sobs*
Yes, I think he was the one who grabbed her hand, too. (Though Galina clung to his bicep before.) He's such a baby sometimes, god. And I don't mean it like, you know! You know what I mean right. xP The needing comfort and getting it because, well, who could stand it. I wonder how Galina was with Oksana, I'm too young to know. Do you know? Was she this motherly?
Well, don't we all need comfort sometimes. He's just man enough to show that he needs it, unlike the rest of us. XD I don't know how she was with Oksana and/or Viktor. We should dig out some ancient videos, if there are any. It was all pre-internet.
That's a lot of Russian. I've read so much Russian tonight already, I'm getting all X_x from it. It's cute how even Viktor calls him "Dzhonnik", hehe. :) It's good to hear that J is fine, you know, not completely heartbroken. Shall I read the bit about Stéphane, too, I wonder...
Yeah, I noticed that, too. I bet the audience was like, okayyyy, here goes Johnny Weir, here's where the battle starts.
But seriously, the axel, Reet, THE AXEL! It's fuckin' huge. And of course I knew that before, when he was not popping them and jumping actual triples, but you sort of NOTICE it more this way, how he's like alfjlajf a whole meter above the ice or something. (And it's so cool to watch in the slow-mo, haha, the way he kind of floats down onto that blade of his landing leg...)
But, you know, considering all his comments in the Truth Booth about how disappointed he was with himself and later how he's trying not to cry. I thought.. that he actually didn't betray much of that on his face? Like, he looked pretty composed and alright about it then, so soon after, especially compared to what we've seen in the past. And well, as long as he can smile like that still.
The axel is huge *nods* and full of.. air and fluff lololol No I know what you mean. We're so gone, we're marvelling at the beauty of his pops now. ;);D
I know. He held it together. Though in the end, once he gets his scores, you can see his eyes sort of glaze over and you can tell that he's trying not to cry. (He probably didn't expect to get such low scores.)
What levels did he get on the spins there, btw? Because I thought they were quite lovely, fast and centered.
We're so gone, we're marvelling at the beauty of his pops now. ;)Well, it's... I kind of want to see them all do single axels now, just for comparison. They should all play the popping game

Have a nice and safe trip *crosses fingers*, 'cause wasting time in aeroports is just so annoying...
