It Is Really Hard To Sing Through Tears

Aug 22, 2010 23:37

I am singing again. Tonight I attended my first rehearsal with Resounding Harmony, a mixed SATB chorus conducted by Dr. Tim Seelig, formerly with Turtle Creek Chorale. I am not the only former Turtle Creek Chorale member who has gravitated to this group.

Resounding Harmony was founded specifically to sing concerts to raise money for local charities ( Read more... )

I am thrilled for you, Evan!!! So happy there is an outlet for you and that you're working again with Tim without any of the Turtle Creek Chorale drama!! May this bring you much joy!! Please, please tell him hello from me and give him a hug!

Hugs to you!

I will do just that. I barely got the chance to say hello tonight as it was a bit of a whirlwind, but next week promise to bring you up.

I am happy too - I have really missed singing and would far rather lend my voice to an organization that is doing wonderful things to help others, especially in these hard times. All the singers are on board with the concept and it is a mixed lot - not just men and women, but gay and straight, various religious groups, even Muslim. It is the one bright spot that shines forth in the midst of all the pretention and materialism of Dallas that I have found that I can be totally on board with.

I echo what Neil said. I know how much you love to sing, and I am delighted you have this new outlet that I am certain will bring you much joy and happiness.

I think it will Bob - if I can make it through the emotional weeping first!

Nice crisp professional sound from an SATB chorus! Enjoy your singing, Evan!

I was especially impressed that the chorus director for this pieces was behind the two rows of singers with movement.

Hugs,

Bill

Tim places a lot of trust in his singers. That is one of the things I love about his conducting. The two songs prior to this one in concert half the singers were actually spaced down the aisles of the hall behind him, the Meyerson Center. I am really looking forward to performing again in this space...
