I don't know why after 34 years this just hit me, but in December of 1978, I played King Casper in a production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors". All the Kings get to sing a ton, but Casper has the comic aria of the night. The song is called - wait for it - "This Is My Box."

Tonight I laughed for the first time at the title...

I have been extremely wound up of late - heartache, job stress, family stuff, friend drama - you name it and I have had a taste of it the past several months. Everything has been heading into this weekend when I finally get to get the Hell out of Dallas on an early Christmas morning flight to North Carolina and my family.

I am singing again. Tonight I attended my first rehearsal with Resounding Harmony, a mixed SATB chorus conducted by Dr. Tim Seelig, formerly with Turtle Creek Chorale. I am not the only former Turtle Creek Chorale member who has gravitated to this group.

I am watching PBS Independent Lens tonight and the documentary they are airing is Young@Heart about the Young@Heart Chorus from Northampton, MA. The average age of the chorus is 81 years and they have been singing for a couple of decades around the world and to royalty in Europe.
