The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has a contest every year called "Best of the Web" to acknowledge unit web sites. My District 11, Northern Region site has won five of them and only missed last year's because I wasn't the webmaster that year... This year, I made it a goal ( Read more... )

The sounds of whales eating did not coax Mama and Calf down the river... I have nearly half a gigabyte of photographs to go through... The boat I was on included an AP photographer... Wow did he have NICE equipment!!! He even quick edited two of my photos and they were uploaded from out there to the USCG Public Affairs office for release... The ( Read more... )

There is a mother and baby humpback whale up here on the Sacramento River... We are organizing a fleet to direct them back down to San Francisco Bay and hopefully out to sea... NOAA is the lead agency, and the USCG has a large part in it... Right now, I'm planning on going out tomorrow with the fleet to document the operation for Public Affairs. As ( Read more... )
