I know. *hugs* So do I. But as with everything else in the world, the majority doesn't. It's just a rule of nature, and there's not much one can do about it. They either don't know or don't care or have other priorities, and as long as they are not personally concerned, they. don't. give. a. shit. No point getting upset about it, let's just focus on what we can do for ourselves now.

Yeah. Well my game plan is pretty much the same; I'll stay because I have friends on LJ, and frankly wherever we go, we will just be chased away to another place eventually. I will make my back-up LJ on IJ, but for now I'm remaining.

My favourite part of Nosik's (more or less childishly repetitive) statement is this one:

In a situation where people are trying to scare and blackmail us, threatening to destroy our business, there are business reasons for not rewarding such behaviour. This is not just human psychology, which retaliates more the more it is pressed. Problem is that there's never been a successful company whose success was based on bowing to collective resistant forces.

Right at the moment, I'm not really sure whether I possess large enough quantities of gallows humor to stay on LJ under the new regime and TOS. SUP's content manipulation tactics and attempts at enforcing (self)censorship are bugging me way more that any of their "financial" decisions.

Ich wurde heute gefragt, ob dieses Interview eventuell von Erich Honegger gegeben wurde...! :-D Also, Ähnlichkeiten kann man nicht verleugnen...

This man, his tone, his ideas, his stance, his general attitude and philosophy is inacceptable for me, and he does not deserve my money. He also doesn't deserve to be ignored; people like him are dangerous, as we can tell from the reaction of the Russian users. And they have more at stake than us.

Pardon my stupidity, but I thought we WERE their business?

*rereads, considers* Actually - having lived under a repressive regime, I'm probably being a bit naive. The double talk has a very familiar ring.

No, you're perfectly right. I've shown the interview to Miss C., who grew up in the former German Democratic Republic, and she asked if that bit had been written by the Stasi... it's the same strategy: those who criticise or disagree are "enemies", "idiots" and "blackmailers" and in general a danger to society - pardon, business. This certainly doesn't go down well here, and unlike the Russians, who don't have many alternatives to LJ, we have options, many options to choose from.

Thanks the gods.

I do care. I haven't renewed my paid account over here and for sure I'm not going to renew my other LJ when it expires (beside it was an anon gift and the fact that I got it soon after my paid account here expired has always puzzled me a little...)

I'm not sure how or if is going to affect anything, but it felt right to me.

I know *hugs*. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated with people in general (Tibet, anybody?)

I won't renew, either (did so, stoopid as I was, only recently), but I'll move, rebuild another journal elsewhere (wordpress, very likely) and so I won't only take my money with me, but also my content.

Icon love, by the way...!

NOE! No Tibet!
I have an account on Wordpress and one on IJ also so I only wait for you to give me your new "coordinates" and I will follow. I'm sorry but you won't get rid of me.

I tried several times to export my LJ's contents somewhere else but I'm always having an error message about incorrect date, and this with every program I tried; probably it's due to the fact that I still use Windows2000 on this laptop. The new one has XP so I hope I can fix it.

(((hugs the Master)))
