Needs More Summoners (and Cowbell)

I've been pulling teeth trying to get a Fenrir run. Last night I couldn't get more than 3 summoners, counting myself. Tonight I got a group of four. We wiped twice, had to home point, and disbanded. I don't see myself ever getting more than a party of four and that didn't go well at all.

I keep quiet whenever I can't help with something, but don't want to sound like a dick for saying "Sorry I'm exping BST" or whatever.

It doesn't mean you're being ignored.

2 skilled rdms can duo him though if you know any.

I know tons, but none that would stop to help.

And I'd much rather you say something than nothing. It's not being a dick to be doing something. It's being a dick to just ignore me because you can get away with it. At least, that's the way I feel about it.

It wouldn't be fair to the good people I know to say that I don't know anyone. I do. Unfortunately many of them don't meet the prereqs for Fenrir and many of them play at odd hours, so getting enough pepole together that can do the fight isn't working so hot.

I totally understand you and your boyfriend's problem. I don't think it's because he's a PUP; it's just human nature. While I'm typing this reply there are two or three shouts in whitegate that I'm not answering, so I guess I'm no different really. That doesn't mean it's not frusterating though.

Well, the only thing I can say is I feel your pain.

I had to pull teeth to put together two Fenrir runs over 3 years, and never even considered doing an all SMN run, since I don't know that many SMNrs willing to help. I got lucky, I know tanks, and I'm a healer, so grabbing DDs (and I know LOTS of BST, and they DD well) was easier than getting the before mentioned tank and healers. Still, it took a good 2 months of threatsconvincing before the thing got going in each case, with a few false starts.

I would suggest, try to find people that also need/want Fenrir and put together a conventional party. 2 Erasers should give you the edge you need to beat the puppy. If you were on Shiva, I'd offer to help, as I still know some tanks that would probably run him gladly.

I really have no problem with doing it the conventional way, as that's how I got Fenrir myself, but the problem with Fenrir is that getting the quest involves turning in all the whispers and that's a big hassle. I've run across a few meleeish jobs that were willing to put together a normal party for it but they weren't even close to having all the whispers and didn't seem willing to do the run around to get them all. Thus I was trying the summoner approach because I knew they all had the quest open to get their own Fenrirs.

It sounded like a good idea at the time, and it still sort of does, but I can never get enough of the good eggs on and unbusy at the same time and the rest of 'em are useless. Thus my dillema.

I know you've probably heard this about 100 times by now, but I hear ya. Holy Hedgehog Bombs, I hear ya; as a matter of fact this is what's caused several of my friends to quit. On the other hand, I've managed to get a party (other than a friend of a friend, totally random people), and get the summon in a day...although it did take a while (5 hours) of shouting to do it. I wasn't 75 at the time though (I was 70 Blu) so that may have been why people were hesitant to join me.

How long do you shout usually? I notice that 90% of the time, people give up after 2 hours of shouting, but I personally don't have more than 3/6 by the 2 hour mark. It helps if you have someone in your party shouting in Jeuno, Whitegate, and if possible Colosseum/Al Zahbi simultaneously. Also I notice that it helps to get a tank and healer as the last 2, if possible, since they're usually the hardest to get.

Honestly I know how annoying fen can be (0/9) here, but honestly when i shout and no one answers there is a good reason, they don't need to waste their time. Yes the game is a little harsh but so is life, again friends are different and they all seem to be dying out quickly. Anyways when someone shouts for help with something i'll honestly say I wont help them breach Garlaige or do AF1, that's because I have a better use of my time. Those types are things are more suited for people who also need it. Ex: Ppl who want Fenrir quest rewards. I feel your pain but you seem to be quite skilled in this game, should be used to it by now.

ok I'm gonna give you a suggestion that sounds foreign to many ears but actually makes sense. First off, I'm one of those who haven't sold my soul to HNMls and such but still have managed to get along pretty well. So before I get flamed and people saying that I have no idea what I'm talking about I'll make sure that's out too. I can give examples if need be but I really hope it's not necessary ( ... )
