What is that SMELL?!?!

Jul 30, 2009 21:32

The kidling got his first taste of the Joys of Dog Ownership this evening.  While I was downstairs, I became aware of the stink of doggy-doo.  Trixstir could smell it too, and we searched up and down the hallway where it seemed the strongest, with no sign of anything.  "Perhaps," we thought, "He just farted and the smell is lingering."  On a ( Read more... )

I'm SO with you on this one and I've had several dogs growing up myself. Dogs, in general, are just too high maintenance for the return that you get IMHO. My hubby says as soon as we can afford to get into a house he'd like to get one and I flat out made sure he knew if that happened it was his dog and if they bother my kitties they either stay outside or they go.

Kitties rule, doggies stink and drool! -_^

Oh, dogs aren't all that bad. Yeah, they have smelly breath and they like to pant in your face when you're already hot, and they lick themselves and then want to lick your face... Hmmm...

I do find that dogs make nice companions though, although they definitely are higher-maintenance than a cat. That's part of why I'm more of a cat-person, but the kidling's been wanting a dog for years, and we felt the time was right.

Horses are still my favourite animals, then cats, then dogs. :)

Dogs are funny like that. It's best to always feed them at the same time (morning is good), and let them out at the same times, need it or not. They like routine, and it becomes a lot easier to care for them. Once the pup realizes you're not going to steal his food, he'll probably leave some of his kibble for later. Just make sure he's getting the right amount 'per day', so he's not putting on weight.
