Jake almost always gets a reaction from Vaccines. Mostly cuz he fights the vets and gets a huge knot because he REALLY doesn't like needles..But I digress.

Now that you mention your guys symptoms Jakes kind of line up. He has a stiff neck, (from the knot lol) but seems depressed, non social, and kind of whole body uncomfortable. Jake is like George, very cuddly and a people horse so I just figure he's pissed and not feeling good.

I'd say George is having a run of the mill reaction. However, if this lasts more than a week I'd take a closer look. Jake has been under the weather up to 4 days after a Vacc.

Thank you for that. That's the thing - you put it much better than me. he is being anti-social. Jumping away as a 'leave me the heck alone' warning. he IS a bit of a drama queen and most everything he does is to extremes so maybe this is is extreme way of telling me he REALLY doesn't want my company at the moment?

I'd call the vet and ask if it's common to get thsoe side effects, or if it's something you should be worried about.

I left the vet a message. (sunday vets are hard to get hold of unless in an emergency.) I'll be interested to see what they say but in the meantime it's good to get some personal views from others. Keeps me sane anyway lol!

I just went through something like this with our Shetland mare. The day after her spring shots (2/14), she was out in her field and refused to move. We thought at first that she was stuck in the mud (stupid spring, it's deep for a little girl like her), but even after we got her going, it was obvious she was in a lot of pain through her shoulder, back, and hind legs ( ... )

When Jack gets his vaccs, the vets always leave 2 days of bute with us as he always reacts. Injection site swells up to size of football, he doesn't want to move/interact/eat much, stiff neck, and sometimes a snotty nose. On the day of his vaccination, he gets left alone in his stable with some but so he can just rest. Poor boy.

George is probably feeling a bit rubbish so his behavior is changed. I wouldn't worry, he should be normal again in a couple of days at the most.
