I spent some time last weekend running after my horse in the paddock after his EZ boot flew (and I do mean flew) off in his first 30 seconds of turn out.
So this actually is happening to everyone. Crap product. My Mother said they've developed a new version where the problem isn't as bad but seriously. I'm inclined to give it a miss.
I don't know about hoof shape but I bought some of the Cavallo Simple boots for my Paint who cannot stand walking on gravel. Well before I even had a chance to use them he came up lame with Laminitis so I put the boots on him for 2 weeks during turn out until the farrier could shoe him and he did great. He was sound after 2 days of wearing them and wore them for 2 weeks non stop without any issues. The only issue he had was after the barn owner took them off to check his feet she must have put them on a bit different and then he had a rub mark. Of course now he's in real shoes so I haven't gotten to use them in a while.
We've used Old Macs and Cavallo boots and they're much of a likeness I would say, but the Old Mac ones are a bit of a sod to fit because they rely on a leather strap around the heel that is literally exactly the same diameter as the buckle it goes through so the process can be very fiddly indeed. On balance I'd look at the Cavallo ones first but if getting them make sure you get some gaiters too, unless you're keeping the ones from your EZ boots.
the woman i board with uses easy boots and has told me that they come off periodically. however, she re-designed the way in which she puts them on so that she sort of slides the band along the entire back of the boot instead of just using the corner points (it's hard to explain) and that has helped a bit.
