...I'm tryin' it, awright?

I've had a few friends tell me I should try Star Trek: Voyager, and, yeah, it seems to have rather less stick-up-the-butt problems than TNG, and it's definitely already better than DS9...Janeway has the most annoying voice, but, ehh...I can deal ( Read more... )

Don't even bother with the first two seasons of Voyager, they go from bad to atrocious very very fast. If you want to try voyager pick it up at seasson three at the earliest unless you have a very high pain tolerance

Will I even understand it at that point? I mean...will the characters and their relationships be comprehensible when jumping through that much time?

Funny you should say that...I find I'm enjoying it much more than any Star Trek I've seen except for the new movie.

Granted, the episode I'm seeing right now is a frickin' holodeck malfunction episode, and I REALLY hate those, but...I'd say that this has rather less of what I hate about Trek rather than more. It's a bajillion times better than DS9, that's for @#$%ing sure!

There'z something about it...the characters seem less like cardboard cut-outs than the ones from TNG, they have less of that stick-up-the-butt manner of delivery of their lines...well, except the Vulcan, of course. Some of them aren't even Starfleet personnel, which gives some perspective that I've always wanted from Trek: non-Starfleet perspective.

Granted, it's still Trek and there is a lot not to like, but...

Oh, and Jerry Goldsmith's theme is AMAZING; the world lost such a talent when he died. :(
