Kite watched his two friends scrambling about--Linda falling on the ground in surprise, Beast Boy clinging to his sheets frantically. Kite smiled softly. It was just something about the two of them that... confused him, really. Whenever they were around he ran into multitudes of anomalies in his data, reactions and emotions he logically shouldn't be experiencing. Even during the official Worst Day Ever, why is it that they could make him smile and feel so warm? Was this an error, or was it something else...?

It was like there was a new part of him, something that had been hiding until now. Was this unknown another part of being human? Whatever it was, he hoped it wasn't a fatal error because it was a nice feeling.

"Linda, Beast Boy!" he said cheerfully, momentarily forgetting all the horrible things he had been making extra-sure not to forget. "It's good to see you again, I'm glad that you're both well!" He drifted a little close to them, floating barely an inch off the ground.

Despite feeling like a big ol' ball of sheer AWKWARD at the moment, Beast Boy really couldn't help but smile. "You okay, Linda?" and then "KITE! You're back! Dude, what took ya so long?! You missed--"

He paused. Probably wouldn't be such a good thing to include the acid trip. If Raven had gotten mad over it, he really didn't want to know what Kite would think. He had to remind himself to tell Linda not to ever talk about it. God forbid word ever got around to Harry...

"So uh, how're you feeling? You're still... you, right?" Well, at least Kite remembered them. That was infinitely better than the whole Terra ordeal.

Thank goodness. The conversation went on; Linda’s moment of epic Lame was forgotten. However, she could feel another moment, one that simply thinking about it turned her cheeks red, bubbling in her chest, clawing its way up through her throat, reaching to burst from her mouth, to shine before the world in all of its glory. But not yet, no no no! She wouldn’t let that thought take form, that moment to be born. She wouldn’t tell them that… Even though, you know… She was just happy that they were all together again, and Kite was back, and well, something really wanted her to tell them, to tell them the truth… NO.

Change the topic, change the topic, change, change it!

“So, like, Kite,” playing off Beast Boy’s last words, “It totally doesn’t seem like you’re different or whatever, you know? Can you just like, do stuff you couldn’t do before? Like fl--, wait, you’ve always floated… Um…. I dunno. What’s new?”

Kite cocked his head to one side curiously at BB's unfinished sentence. "I missed... what?" he asked. But Beast Boy had already changed the subject, so he let himself shrug it off for now. They could talk about that later. "I am feeling fine, Beast Boy. All of my files are fully operational ( ... )

Oh this again. Kite seriously had some self esteem issues. And that's exactly what he said. "You've got self esteem issues, dude."

Wincing, he tried to rephrase himself as to not sound like a total ass. "You're perfect the way you are." No, wait--! "I like you just the way you are. Both of you." Oh god oh god shut up shut up! Don't let them have heard, don't-- "And your crazy bugged netspeak text was cute."

Suddenly, he launched himself half out of bed into a more or less spasm, making sure to repeatedly hit his head on the ground in frustration. "GOD I'M SO AWKWARD." Well wasn't that the truth.

Idly, he wished some of his scars could be removed. Self consciously, he tried to pull his shirt down a little more to cover the gashes and burns on his abdomen. Nothing could be done about that damn monkey bite scar on his arm, so he simply hid the arm under him. Stupid green monkey, getting him sick...

Beast Boy then realized exactly what Kite had just done. He opened his mouth, and the words that should have flowed out were 'what the ( ... )
