And of usually in writing different Kanji are used to differentiate words words that sound the same. Even worse, the same Kanji can be pronounced differently depending on context (sometimes it means the same thing, sometimes something completely different).

Of teah, and just to make it more intresting, the counting system you use depends on the nature of the objects being counted. Are they long and cylindrical? Thin and flat? Lumpy?

But forget all that, just remember the phrase 
ビール  見せて 下さい
Biiru misete kudasai
(Give me) beer please
