I had my 1st GA (general anaesthetic) session with a patient this morning. It's cool because there's a whole operating theatre set up just for me :) We took out 14 teeth and inserted nearly full dentures, it took about 45 mins so I was pleased with that. It all went really well, and the patient was really appreciative in recovery, though she ( Read more... )

It would seem that despite all my hoping, Jemima is not quite well yet. She had a bald patch developing on top of her head, which I thought might have been from over-grooming her wound, or a skin fungal infection as a result of the antibiotics she's on. This came for my camera today, which will mean I can now use it properly for macro photography at work. It makes the camera pretty unmanageable cos it's huge, but results in very cute photos of Jemima :)

Oh dear, what a sad little story for a tiny little animal. We went to the vet this afternoon, who was really nice, and also semi-hot :) (Ladies, if you have an unwell pet I recommend Toby at All Creatures Great and Small in South Perth!) Her eye has continued to get purpler, crustier and more swollen since last Thursday. I've debated in my mind the vet fee vs $5 for a new mouse, and decided that I can't be letting her suffer. Even if the vet says it's best to just put her down, I'd rather pay for that than have her slowly die of a gross eye infection. So we're off to the vet today ( Read more... )

Jemima has somehow managed to give herself a black eye. It doesn't seem to be bothering her too much, so hopefully it's just from one of her many crazy escapades up the side of the cage and will heal in a few days. She looks like a tiny, furry Ben Cousins :)

I'm slightly freaked out right now, but only from the thought of what could have happened. I was parked up by the Broken Hill hotel. I don't remember doing it, but I must have locked my doors because I was sitting there sending a text message when a guy walked up to my car and tried to get in the passenger side.
