I figured rather than go on about how long it's been since I published any Don/Charlie I should just write and publish some Don/Charlie. (I have been writing a *ton* of Don/Charlie as of late, it's just too long and complex to be published any time soon. /sigh/)

This fic owes a debt to the penguingal/schnaucl fic Brothers, Friends and Lovers that came long before it. I just perverted their trio of titles for my own devices.

Fic title from the lyrics to the most excellent song Mouth by Bush.

Oh very nicely done! You captured the connection of each section very well but I particularly like the brothers section. The ability to hurt each other is always going to be close the surface.

They strip his security clearance so no more excuses of late nights working on cases, no more easy reasons to stop by each other's workplace, no shared joy when innocents are saved and criminals caught.

I really like that, too. The question is, does Don still want those excuses?

Poor Don is confused. He thought he knew and loved Charlie. Now this. He doesn't know what to think, although I'm pretty sure he thinks this was a totally selfish act on Charlie's part - not a selfless one in favor of his friend Phil.

As am I, but Don's hurt and not really thinking rationally. He's probably got a prepared rant in his head for every time Charlie acts selfishly from them growing up together a la the 'precious bubble' speech in UP.

Awwww this is so cute! And angsty! I love me some cuteness and angst! Especially the first part, because I can see it paralleled from their childhood days to adulthood <3
