Why are the strong, interesting female characters disappearing from the TV shows I watch?

First it was Agent Elle Greenaway in "Criminal Minds."  Now Sara from "Men in Trees" is gone (or at least I assume so since Suleka Mathew's name is no longer in the opening credits).  Will this become an unfortunate pattern?

I watched CM mainly because it was ( Read more... )

Nooo!! I liked Sara! But you do have a point. She didn't have many comedic moments. Too bad...

I think it would be more realistic if there was a more serious person in there, because I don't think having everyone funny or light-hearted is realisic at all. There should be someone serious. I mean I know her agent is serious but she is also funny. Then again, it's realistic that Sara moved because she wasn't ready and was not used to the hole thing with her love interest. Hmmmmm....idk anymore.

Most entertainment is not "realistic" in some way or another. This is probably even more true for comedies. Also, Maren's agent and Sara are serious in different ways...Maren's agent is supposed to have a serious, career-focused mindset but her resulting situations are funny, while Sara is dealing with serious issues that rarely produce funny moments. That's why Sara unfortunately did not fit in with the rest of the show.
