Serenity

At Whedonesque this morning someone posted this fan-made 'trailer' for Serenity at YouTube.
I love everything about this trailer: the epic/operatic build up makes the final title shot look like a satirical comment.
The film clips avoid giving too much away (IMO anyway) because they go by so quickly and are out of order...so you aren't getting a mini ( Read more... )

Oh, I think it´s very professionally done! It has a lots of great scenes in it and it´s cut perfectly. I also like that it´s emphasizing Rivers role in the movie. But IMO it makes the movie look more like a fight and action movie- personally I don´t care for those, so I am not sure it would make me go and watch it.
But well, it´s really well done.*off to see it again*

Well I think the more action movie/epic thing might have sold more tickets in the theaters in general...
and like you, I loved that it showed River's role (since she really was the action hero of the movie).

here is another trailer made by a different fan:

but I think it is both too talky, and too spoilery...

Oh, I agree. This one has too much dialogue. That would maybe have worked for the movie theatre... but maybe it would be too spoilery for that.

You think emphasizing the action would have sold more tickets?

I loved this trailer. Is it a real one or fan-made?
It balances the dialogue, the wit and the action very well I think

Oh that really is a good one, and it was an official one (although not usually shown on TV because it was long...and I never saw it in the theater either).
I do think that emphasizing the action would have brought in more teenaged boys (who I think are the core group that lead to the biggest ticket sales), but I understand that the name 'Serenity' sounded too girly to this group and many of them didn't see it until it was on DVD.
