Thank goodness there were no coyotes on Franklin Island, the uninhabited and somewhat bleak island where T and his kayaking expedition spent the night on Saturday. I love the idea of time travel and I think Connie Willis' Domesday Book is one of the best featuring this. I am in the home straight as far as the War of 1812 novel goes. My hero is on his way to Lundy's Lane, and the book ends with the battle itself and the aftermath. My deadline for a first draft is June 1st so all is looking good. I've found this hard going because the need for historical accuracy is so stringent.
