Yep, the treadesk is up an running and I am actually walking on it as I type this. It's very odd feeling at first and it's taken me about an hour before I felt that I could type comfortably. Who knew I even had a supraspinatus muscle, but I do and I have either stretched it or torn it. If just stretched, physiotherapy and painkillers should sort it out in three to four weeks, if not then I will have to see a specialist to repair the tear. I was expecting to write like crazy today after the progress made yesterday, but no, the universe had other ideas for me. I am stuck in the spring/early summer of 1813 and if I believed my research to date, the 5th Lincoln Militia basically had the year off with involvement in no major battles. Now that I have finally given in and stopped trying to write this book as a straight forward linear narrative, things are going swimmingly and I am enjoying myself. A Call to Arms has decided it wants to be a series of reminiscences that loop back on themselves, which is fine by me. So over 2000 words this morning and a happy memory at last!

I couldn't sleep from about 5:00 this morning as my brain was going a mile a minute, plotting a scene. I realised that my protagonist's father probably had typhus. I also realised that I had only a vague idea of the symptoms and absolutely no idea of the treatments used in 1812.
