Ugh, why do people have to be so rude?
I'm in the process of writing a monstrously epic fic over at fanfiction. Its up to 61 chapters and I'm barely halfway through with it.
In the beginning I would get tons of feedback and positive response. And of course like all stories it died down a little. But I tried to remain positive. And then I begged ( Read more... )

It only takes one dumb person to ruin your day. It's kind of silly though how one bad review weighs on you more then a million good ones.
This happened to me before and I felt crumy that whole week. You just have to write what you want and not care what anybody else thinks.
Not everyone can like everything and I am pretty sure those people who review stories with negative comments just like to complain.
If your story is going a certain way go with the story and the characters. Not on feedback. I take in some feedback when writing a story, but I usually go with my gut.
I've almost deleted a couple of my fics, but more people enjoyed my fic then disliked it.
Just think about all the people waiting for you to update. You have lots more reviews then me on fanfic lol.

Its weird that I have so many reviews over at FF. For some reason I don't really understand people seem to be more willing to review VM fics over there than Syelle fics. It seems to be almost the opposite here. Wonder why that is.
And don't get me wrong Im totally grateful for the ones i have but like you said, one negative review pulls way more weight than a million good ones.
And you are right those people just like to complain. I mean sure sometimes I dont like what is happening but when I review I either don't mention it or I still make for damn sure that the author knows how much I still love the fic (which I think you know from my reviews for your stories).
And don't be sorry about the rant, it made me feel alot better.

Negative reviews just throw you off sometimes. And it is always good to rant for needed support.
I really enjoy getting reviews from you and people in general. Good reviws=good mood. Bad reviews=bad mood.

Unfortunately there are far more rude and cruel people willing to speak up online than nice ones. One fic of mine was completely torn apart a few months ago and I really didn't think I'd do another fic because of it.
Anyway, try not to let the assholes get you down - I know it's hard, but if you do then they win. And really, where's the fun in that?

im so happy you love it! its nice to know that i still have readers that care!
i wont abandon it, or at least i will try not to. but i dont have anything new written after this story arc is over and unfortunately i have no enthusiasm to write right now. so most likely it will be going on hiatus after i finish posting the arc, but you still have a few more chapters coming before the hiatus. but i promise i will get back to it as soon as i can.
