Yeah, there's only so much you can do for someone else, the rest is up to them. It's sad that the two of you aren't at the same point in your lives, to be ready for each other. Even though it sucks now, I think this path is really the only one that'll give you both a chance at long-term, stable happiness.

I think what you've said here speaks volumes about the kind of person you are -- all good things, of course. I respect you for your discretion, compassion and understanding; i think these are traits that go underappreciated nowadays but are still important. For that reason I think robby is lucky to be with you during this time rather than someone who might not be nearly as emotionally or mentally mature, who might exploit the situation for themselves.
