Oct 11, 2014 17:50

[This started out as a long rant at fandom, but I cut it down to the bare bones. Feel free to skip.] Note: If you want a story where all the babiez are brutally KILLED and everything is about the Doctor’s man!pain, go watch The Runaway Bride. Imma gonna watch the episode with all the awesome wimmins in charge. (No disrespect to RTD or Donna. Love them both.)With that out of the way - welcome to the meta cafe! :) This is long and rambly, you have ( Read more... )

Your metas (as always) are fascinating and soothing and lead me to the story beneath that I can FEEL, but never can quite see (or lay my finger on). Brava!! And thank you...

This is so freaking brilliant, my head is spinning.

I wish every DW fan could be sat down and forced to read this, especially the whiners.

I think Moff would love this, too.

Can't wait to see if any of your predictions pan out. :)

::flails:: ::collapses in relief::

(It's always fraught to post stuff. And this was so vast. I'm still not sure I've written it out all that logically.)

I wish every DW fan could be sat down and forced to read this, especially the whiners.
♥ ♥ ♥ (Oh god, my rant. I was very angry. But it wouldn't do any good.)

Aw, I hope so!

Can't wait to see if any of your predictions pan out. :)
Sure they will!

More later, but this was my favorite quote:

Sing it!

::blushes::

This was was everything + the kitchen sink. I've been avoiding writing about Clara ever since the start of the season, but this time it was unavoidable. :)

I've been off LJ and DW for close to an entire week, and I'm trying to get back on the horse. Of course the first place I come is right here.

eaweek said she hoped that people who didn't like the episode could be forced to sit and read this. I didn't have to be forced, because I always - always - enjoy what think, what you postulate, and how you write about those things.

I still, however, have horrendous problems with this story. They have to do with how I approach story telling, and how I approach the art and liturgy of writing. Those problems haven't changed.

[snip to remove what became a rant about the episode. This is not the place to do that, because what lies below is what is important.]

Despite all that, I understand that my violent sense of deep dislike for the episode is a thing connected to levels of the story other than the mythical and metaphysical that you have spied.What you spy is always worth reading. What you do in finding these things, mining them and bringing them to the surface of the story is priceless ( ... )

That is high praise in indeed. And I hope I don't force things on people.

I saw your post, although I didn't read it.

(I almost put a disclaimer on in, to say it wasn't about my flist.) More about fandom generally, and just the whole atmosphere, the way ( ... )

Indeed, they are pretty darned reasonable; I just had one hell of a busy week, and my brain went in to "too few spoons" thinking (or lack of thinking) mode. There are days when I simply can't, for the life of me, find anything worth saying to other people, and I can't respond to other people.

Please don't think my cut-down rant was aimed at you.

Oh, goodness, no. I didn't for a moment. I understand the frustration and eventual anger at people who only seem to hate watch. I know that these people are folks who generally love the show, but they are like bruised lovers who focus on being bruised, rather than on the love they still carry.

I think we all have days like that... *hugs*

Oh good! ::is relieved:: (I always worry.)

They are like Star Wars fans.
