My Immortal 2. Chapter 5.

Sep 27, 2011 11:35

So, the Children of Earth chapter. Not surprisingly this is wall-to-wall angst, although it's all quite subdued. For those not familiar with Children of Earth, this is by far the best description I can think of:

'There are things worse than walls. Terrible... and beautiful. If we look at them for too long they will burn right through us. Truths we ( Read more... )

Gah! I want to read this SO BAD. But I read all the other parts of the story before I actually started watching Torchwood (am mid S2 now) and so it didn't matter about spoilers and stuff 'cause I didn't know the characters anyway. But now I don't want to spoil myself and I have to save this for when I'm done with the series. (But, I've totally been planning to go back and re-read this whole verse once I'd finished the show anyway. I keep thinking about your story and trying to remember how the bits and pieces work in.)

Anyway, bookmarking for later.

Awww, I feel your pain! And if you're mid-S2 you don't have much left anyway, since this is set post S3. Hope you're enjoying! :)

(Miracle Day is... not good. Just thought I'd warn you. Feel free to avoid. ETA: Although Gwen is AWESOME.)

Only one more chapter I'm afraid. And when you say all, do you mean all? If you do, you deserve a virtual cookie! :)

Anyway, thank you so much - I am always thrilled to pieces when someone reads this 'verse, because I am very, very fond of it! ♥

Goodness! Well, here is a cookie! :)

And the last chapter shouldn't be too long... I have draft and everything. But currently it's refusing to behave - or maybe I'm just reluctant to say goodbye to the 'verse. *hugs it*

*waves*

After a long time of resisting "My Immortal" (I just wasn't ready to read a story with Buffy paired with anyone but Spike) I finally started reading it two days ago - and I haven't been able to stop. "My Immortal" was perfect in every way. Honestly, Jack as The Immortal is inspired writing and fits him so perfectly - and I loved how seamlessly you fit the two verses together. It made perfect sense that Buffy's rebound guy would be Jack Harkness, and you wrote it in such a way that (for the first time EVER) I was totally on board with Buffy being in a relationship with someone else ( ... )

*blushes, then dances* THANK YOU! ♥

Doesn't it just? Which is why I HAD to write it...

It was a labour of love, it really was. Esp because things just began fitting together as if it had all been planned.

It made perfect sense that Buffy's rebound guy would be Jack Harkness, and you wrote it in such a way that (for the first time EVER) I was totally on board with Buffy being in a relationship with someone else.*beams* This. They are exactly what each other needs at that moment in time - yet it only work because they're temporary. I, too, have problems with Buffy paired with anyone else, but these two just ( ... )

Oh wow. Poor Jack. Though he is so sweet. I should really learn a bit more about the Children of Earth plot. I understand it was quite controversial, wasn't it? Anyway. I hope Jack is able to recover. It is depressing to think about what it would truly mean to be unable to die. Never getting a break from the bad in the universe and eventually turning into a gigantic head.
One more chapter...?!

I'd never thought of him as 'sweet'... He's just a hollow shell, really.

It broke fandom. (Not the main plot, which is... incredible, and CoE is definitely Rusty's best work - but Ianto's death.) Seriously. Fandom imploded. And there's still a shrine in Ianto's honour in Cardiff. I know of no other character with that level of fannish commitment.

Anyway. I hope Jack is able to recover.
I think so - eventually. But it might take a millennia or two...

Mmmmm. But there is good fic out there.

Well, I think it's sweet that he thinks of Buffy instead of just abandoning his Rome properties, etc.

There's a shrine?! Goodness.
I think I'm going to give Torchwood a try though. It's on Netflix!
Also, what's the deal with S4? I think I heard bad things but Jane Espenson wrote a shitload of it and I like her because Buffy.

Is there good Face of Boe fic out there?
Man, he must've been so happy about dying, that Face of Boe.

Hmmmm. It's more that he wraps everything up, because he's not intending to come back, and Buffy is the logical answer.

There's a shrine?! Goodness.
Here you are.

Yessssssss.

You know the Buffy comics? It's a bit like that. Except they FILMED it. OK, so no one is quite as OOC as they are in the Buffy comics, but dear LORD I wasted 10 hours of my life on it and it has left me with images I will never ever be able to get rid of. And you know how Russel T Davies sometimes writes stupid plots? This one is the king of them all. Makes Tinkerbell!Doctor look positively sensible. Stay away stay away stay away! It makes me go like this:

(I love Jane Espenson very much. But. NOTHING redeemed Miracle Day. Not even Gwen with a rocket launcher.)
