Just finished building Jessy a new computer yesterday. Long story short, it was her memory that was the problem from the beginning, but we ended up replacing the hard disk, controller, motherboard, processor, heatsink, graphics card, and operating system along the way trying to isolate the problem. The latest Miyazaki masterpiece, based on a book by British fantasy novelist Diana Wynne Jones, is out in theaters. (The book is very good too, incidentally; I like the writing style.) Jessy and I saw it today and it's fantastic! Disney didn't cut anything, and even translated "demon" as demon, rather than sanitizing it as spirit or something ( Read more... )

Well, Jessy and I just went to California where I took a major written Board examination test to become certified as an ophthalmologist. Suffice it to say it was a dreadful experience. ( For the gory details click here. )

Finally!!!! Nausicaa is available on DVD. Not sure about the dub yet (though it has Patrick Stewart and Uma Thurman) but the transfer quality is perfect. One thing is nagging at me, though:

Is Nausicaa wearing any pants?

There is too much to do and too little time in which to do it! And Jessy and I just got back from a "vacation" that was more stressful than daily life. Too many people to see and too little time to spend with them, and they all felt gypped. And our next "vacation" is to a wedding, where we will be even more stressed out.
