I've 2 elder sisters and always remember the old adage - "Families- can't live with them , can't murder them." Probably why I used to live on different continents from them!
Gah, I can't believe that your mother did that to you! And I'm sorry that it worked out that way, and glad that you enjoyed staying with your father :) Also - HOLY SHIT, is that ever beautiful! My own father (not the one I'm normally referring to when I say 'dad,' who is my stepfather) once put a pond into his back yard, which is a very, very small garden - and knocked out the power to the entire neighborhood. He called me up for the first time in months to inform me that electrocution wasn't fun, and would I like to come visit him sometime before the neighborhood lynch mob came for him.... By that time, the pond was finished, and was nowhere near as beautiful as your father's pond - wowza. That is just gorgeous!
