FIC: Future, 1/1, PG-13

Mar 23, 2007 17:11

Title: Future
Author: Tara Keezer
Rating: PG-13 for upsetting visuals
Fandoms: due South/Battlestar Galactica crossover
Notes: More of that BSG thing. 600 words that are set before Patient, because I’m apparently incapable of linear storytelling these days. [sigh]
Summary: Fraser curls in on himself in an effort to hide.

Yeah. He's not really having a good time on the base ship.

I think that pretty much describes me in a nutshell (emphasis on nut).

Fraser is well and truly caught between a rock and a hard place.

Callum Bear would hug you, but I'm not letting him out of the house just yet.

Ouch! *cries* And, oh, my God, what about the part where Leoben, whom Fraser is holding onto, looks like Ray? *weeps*

Well done.

This isn't really a happy-go-lucky crossover. I never used to be all about the pain, but there's something about Fraser that makes me want to try and break him.

OMG. Not to be all Zen-like and everything (because that might require golf *cough*), but Fraser's already broken. The challenge is to put him back together believably. Sez me, anyway. YMMV and all that....

I can see where you're coming from, but I think was on the edge of broken, but not actually broken, for a long time. He was hanging on by the thinnest of margins when he met Ray (both Rays, actually), and they went a long way toward giving him much needed reinforcement, but now? Neither is available, so I'm chipping away at the repair work to see what's underneath.

The sheer pain of this... I can't call it beautiful, but there is most assuredly a certain amount of exquisiteness to it. Fraser just does pain so well.
And figuring that the interrogation and patient file come from a later point makes me ache for what he's going to do.

He's in the worst place he could possibly be, making the only decision he can possibly make, and he knows, he *knows* he might as well tattoo "Judas" on his forehead and be done with it.

And you're right -- Fraser does pain incredibly well. I suppose I should feel badly about doing this to him, but I can't. It just works too well from a storyteller's standpoint.

Oh, don't feel badly. He's almost made for pain and if it has to be written at least you do it very well.
