Harley beams at the look of approval on Maia's face, even if it was just a smirk to anyone else. She understood the delicate differences on her Puddin's face, and the was what mattered ( ... )

[Harley makes a small sound toward Jinx, contemplating eco for all of a beat before the show continues and Phoenix is hollering at them from when they have him tied up. She snorts softly in amusement, but glances sidelong at Jinxy to see how he's taking things.

Phoenix, you're talking, but all Harley is hearing as she stares at you rather blankly is 'mew mew mew mew mew'. And then he slams his head forward and connects with Maia's. She is up off the table and moving, halfway toward them already when Maia regains her feet and laughs it all off.

She scowls, glowering at him all the way back to perching back on the table again. If he kept that up, she'd happily step in and knock him out again. She had no qualms about Maia repeatedly waking him up with jolts.]

Jinx lolls his head, then shrugs. Phoenix really should be surprised to find that Jinx is in on this. Not being a man to think things over before executing them, he never took into account how bad this could turn out. Jinx isn't a bad guy, he's just fucking stupid.

"I play with fire all th' time."

Did Jinx get the joke, or is he just shooting back some thoughtless babble? Jinx looks to Harley without turning his head, his eyes practically cracking out of his skull.

"That's no way ta' treat a lady, Buddy."

Phoenix winces when his head is yanked back, then grits his teeth, his lips pulled back in a snarl. "I see no lady present!"

Damn it, there has to be a way out of this. Concentrating on just one hand, he pulls and twists, testing the strength of the rope and trying to see if he can get any sort of grip on the knots. Failing that, if he could just get his hand to his hip...

Does he even have his communicator still? He can't remember if he dropped it.

Or if someone took it from him.

Maia smirks, "Mm. Well, it'd certainly be more enjoyable if you were still a lady. You made for much better company, then."

She sighs and gets up off of Phoenix, taking her time with dragging her fingertips along his chest as she moves behind him. "Of course, regardless of sex, you make for a perfectly good specimen." Maia glances up at both Harley and Jinx, "Wouldn't you agree?"

However, Maia's attention quickly turns back to Phoenix. She takes little time moving her fingertips upward until they're resting against his temples. "You know, Phoenix, regardless of whether or not you'll admit to it? You and I actually have quite a bit in common. Still, we do have our differences, as much as it pains me to say. One difference, however, is that while I've experienced what I've put people through, you only go by what you've observed. Of course, if I'm wrong, please correct me! Although, I doubt it'll make much difference."

Maia simply shrugs and smiles down at the man tied beneath her, "I think a treatment could be beneficial either way."

Harley catches the look Jinx shoots her, his eyes wide and clearly in a 'I'm in waaay over my head' frame of mind. She leans in, giving his cheek a gentle pat. "Don't ya let 'im get ta ya, Jinxy .. I think yer swell!" She kisses the tip of his nose, eyes half lidded and tone completely genuine.

Not that it would do him any good in this particular moment anyway, but unfortunately she had thought to take his communicator from him.. and his gun. It wasn't often that Harley did such a good job with an assignment, but she had taken this one to heart. Lucky Phoenix. her blue gaze shifts and Harley watches their captive struggle and shift his attention to his hip. She smiles widely and pulls out his communicator, waving it the air for his attention.

"He might be a looker, Maia, but he ain't too bright! HAH!!" Irony at it's finest, ladies and gentlemen.

"Well." A long pause "That's rude." He just takes another drag of that cigar.

As you can see, Jinx is in his own world at the moment. Though, he does nod at Maia's question if only to acknowledge her.

Jinx only shrugs at Harley's comment, then flinches at the kiss. What the fuck is he doing here? Oh, yeah. He's here to laugh at Harley's awesome jokes because that one really was a knee slapper.

"Really?"

Phoenix stills, his breath all but freezing in his lungs as the implications of what Maia is saying crash down on him. No... He forces himself to breathe, forces himself to try to stay calm, and especially not show any dismay at the sight of his comm in Harley's hands. He can't afford to lose his head or show any weakness.

Never mind that the blood has already drained from his face.

"To what end? You have nothing to gain from such an experiment." Somehow, he manages to keep his voice steady, at least until he angrily bites off that last word. He lets his tone turn somewhat more menacing. "And perhaps a good deal to lose. Or have you forgotten about what you lost?"

Poison and lightning lance through every nerve in his body, and Phoenix screams, his back arching as he tries to thrash in agony. The Dark Eco rips through him mercilessly, setting him on fire and eating him alive, consuming even the pain of the ropes as they dig into his skin. Everything in the world ceases to exist until there is only him and the sickening, deadly energy and pain, so much pain make it stop make it stop oh Mar make it stop!

The screams sink into the library walls, deadened by the library books.

Jinx's face just goes blank, he can't help but to look in the direction that the sparks are coming from because they are sparks and Jinx likes his sparks. He sees Phoenix and saying that he looks like he's in some excruciating pain would really be an understatement. Jinx winces then jerks his head back down, not wanting to see any of this.

He chews his cigar nervously, only remembering the times when he was on 'the dark side' himself. Everything was for his own gain and his own pleasure. If robbing a family of their food was necessary for him to not starve to death that same night, there's no chance that he'd even take the time to think it over. Selfish, yes. But if not for that, like hell if he'd be alive right now.

His mind finds its way back to the real world of the Elegante. This isn't him accidentally'ing someone, this is him deliberately not helping Phoenix.

Maybe hate really can be murder.

Jinx presses his ears to his head. Fuck this shit, man.

Harley watches the whole bit rather attentively, not really noticing Jinx's unease as the good stuff kicks in. She's never really seen Maia at work, nor does she have much of an idea as to how the whole 'dark eco' thing works. So .. it's all new and exciting for everyone's favorite harlequin!! Oh, certainly there were far better ways for her to spend her free time than taking enjoyment in the torture of another person, but she couldn't think of anyplace she'd rather be right now.

She rests her elbows on her knees, chin resting in her upturned hands. If this is what Maia wants to do, then this is what they're gonna do; no matter that it could be completely the wrong thing. That kind of stuff doesn't bother Harley and never really has. She slept with her professor for a better grade in college, after all ( ... )

Maia pays no attention to whatever it is Harley and Jinx may be chattering on about. Right now, the only thing she cares about is screaming right beneath her, and she couldn't be happier.

The feeling of the Dark Eco crackling in and around her body is a painful one, but it's also a feeling that Maia has grown to appreciate. However, Phoenix isn't as lucky as she is. For him it's nothing but horrible, excruciating pain - and she has no intention of letting it end any time soon. Maia closes her eyes and sighs contentedly as she continues to send pulses of Dark Eco through his body.

This moment is perfect. It's everything she hoped it to be, and there is nothing she would do to change it.

"You know, Phoenix...I've been wanting to do this since I first met you." Her voice is quiet. Far too quiet to be heard over the sounds of Phoenix's screaming, but if the room had been silent, then one would be able to hear how genuinely happy Maia sounds.

"I'm so glad that I finally have the chance."

If Maia was expecting a response from Phoenix, she was going to be sorely disappointed - or more than well pleased. Her words rush right past Phoenix's ears, not even registering as scream after pain-filled scream tears itself out of him. He throws himself back, to the side, arching and thrashing desperately to get away from her, but there's no escape. The Dark Eco relentlessly sears through his skin, corroding and twisting and ripping him apart until every cell in his body screams.

He sighs then uses a moment to collect his thoughts. His gaze doesn't break from the floor and the only movement, outside of his pumping heart, is his hand drawing the cigar to his lips.

"No, not really."

His voice is almost silent, barely audible over that screeching from Phoenix.

Harley is kind of tuning out the whole screaming noise while she speaks with Jinx, her baby blues never leaving his face. She feels for him, watching as he lifts his cigar to his lips. It's more than apparent that her pal is a far gentler soul than he'd like to admit.

"Well .. then it's best that ya don't involve yerself, bubs," she says plainly with a little shrug. She's not one to get butt hurt of such, actually preferring that he not get in the way if his conscience is getting to him.

"So, I'll do ya a little favor. For ya own good, ya know? Ain't no point in ya gettin' in any more trouble than ya already have, yeah?"

She's smiling at him, and he's really not going to get anymore warning than that before she pistol whips him solidly across the back of the head.

"Nighty night, Jinxy!"
