the constant struggle with my weight

since i quit smoking oh, what, 12 years ago now (yay, for that i will never regret) my weight steadily went north, until i hit a high that was too, too much. since then i've strugged to get it off with great success, and reasoned failure. at my best calculation i gained at least 70 pounds, probably closer to 80 or more ( Read more... )

Isn't it amazing how much harder it is to loose weight with kids? I had struggled with my weight in the past, and then got to a weight I liked and maintained it for several years. Then, I got pregnant. I gained 50 pounds, and I never lost all of it before getting pregnant again. While I was pregnant I had told myself that when the dust settled from the chaos and the childbirth (or c-section, as it turned out) I would get back to running and that between breastfeeding and running I'd be back to that good ol' weight in no time. ha! I breastfed for 19 months (at which point I was already somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks preggo with #2) and while I lost some weight initially, really I think it gave me a robust appetite. And who has time to run while being a working mother? I realized that exercising with the same discipline that i had previously would mean sacrificing some of the sparse time I have with my daughter and that maybe it wasn't so important and I could wait until my work schedule reduces to normal (which will happen in a year ( ... )
