Big honkin' list o' stuff what happened at Omegacon.

The Good
1. The grilled roast beef and swiss sandwich Roadkill made me for Saturday lunch. I don't know what the hell kind of voodoo he worked on that thing, but man it rocked.

2. The con suite in general. Holy crap. Pancakes on Sunday. A taco bar. A real bar, with alcohol and everything ( Read more... )

It occurred to Pat and I that many of us are either un-employed or in jobs that start late. Making a date for salad bowl might be a good idea. Especially since squishy doesn't seem to believe in sleeping when it is dark out.

I, for one, would be really into that. It's important to get the hell out of the house once in a while when you're unemployed.

I never played Klax until i bought the midway treasures game...but now I'm totally hooked on it.

Typically I don't care for puzzle games (such as Tetris, which Klax is surely a kissing cousin of) but this one is just sweet.

Turn the sound off, put on some Brian Eno, light up the candles and zone out stacking multi-colored tiles into patterned stacks.

Truly am glad I didn't become acquainted with this game until I had "freeplay" on my Gamecube. This would have robbed me of SO many quarters.

Yeah. Puzzle games have some of the worst addictive pull of any video games around.

Like most people, I sort of blow off the puzzle games because I'm more in the mood to make something blow up purty. But then something like Klax comes around, and then whoops there goes the evening.

Midway Arcade Treasures is also available for all the other current platforms too, I believe (XBOX and PS2). If you don't have any of the systems, I would recommend the PS2 - it has the most games.

Have you got a snapshot of the Russian Pinocchio soda? Because I have something of an obsession with unusual soda cans/bottles. Like Canadian A&W Cream Soda and Dr. Good Guy.

I don't, but someone I know might have one. The Pinocchio soda was a pretty big conversation piece. I'll ask around.

I can't remember the name of it. But it was in a brown plastic two-liter bottle, and the label had a cartoon of Pinocchio on it. (Like that'll help with a Google search, but anyway...)
